Cella Janisch-Hartline

Cella Janisch-Hartline, RN, BSN, PCC Professional Certified Coach, is the Nursing & Leadership Development Senior Manager for Rural Wisconsin Health Cooperative. Cella brings her experience from over 40 years in various rural healthcare leadership positions to her work as she combines her passion for nursing, leadership, coaching and teaching. Named the 2018 Outstanding Educator through the National Rural Health Association, she engages healthcare participants across the country with her humorous, action-oriented and compassionate approach.

Erin SmitalRN, is the Nursing Professional Development Educator, Nurse Residency Coordinator and Lean Residency Coordinator at the Rural Wisconsin Health Cooperative. Along with being an RN, Erin brings forward years of experience in various leadership roles in and out of healthcare. In addition to developing and presenting numerous leadership and nursing focused workshops, she also provides training in de-escalation as a Certified Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Instructor.

Sarah Ewers

Sarah EwersBSN, RN, is the Nursing Clinical Development Educator for Rural Wisconsin Health CooperativeSarah earned her Bachelor in Science of Nursing through Viterbo University, and continues to have a passion to hold herself accountable for multiple hours of continuing education. She brings a wealth of experience in providing quality care to patients in multiple settings including Intensive Care, Medical-Surgical, Rehabilitation, Assisted Living, and Long-Term Care. She brings a fresh approach that participants can relate to and bring back to their work practice to implement and grow in their career. She is excited to share her real-world experience to inspire and influence healthcare providers.

Target Audience

Preceptors in various roles, including but not limited to; nursing, lab, pharmacy, therapies, radiology, nutrition, admissions, etc., who have taken the initial Preceptor Training Program and are ready to take their skills to the next level!

Program Description

This workshop is designed to take what you learned in our initial Preceptor Training Program and elevate your skills to the next level. If you are passionate about precepting/growing others and want to learn skills that make you even more effective then this workshop is for you! There is no greater achievement than helping to grow others while simultaneously filling your cup and enhancing your skills and abilities as well! Please join us as we help you to develop a deeper understanding of the Preceptor role and empower you to make a positive impact on your preceptee, your team and ultimately your patients!

Program Objectives

Participants will be able to:

Assist in Building a Retention Culture
• Identify the preceptor’s role in building a retention culture

Develop Effective Case Studies
• Understand steps towards creating and implementing case studies

Articulate the Importance of Role Modeling
• Describe the benefits of role modeling when working with your preceptee

Learn to Embrace the Mentor Role
• Identify key skills of an effective mentor

Become Comfortable with Giving and Receiving Feedback
• Define the 3 most common forms of feedback and why they are important

Develop Resiliency for Stress and Burnout
• Identify strategies to minimize the effects of stress and burnout

Navigate Difficult Conversations
• Understand and embrace your role in difficult conversations

Embrace Self-Care
• Develop tools to manage the complexity of work-life integration

Develop a Socialization Plan
• Learn how to advocate for yourself and your preceptee
