Program Description:

Peter Drucker once said, “Culture eats strategy for breakfast.” Indeed! All the best plans and organizational intentions can be undermined if the culture doesn’t support it. Building the right culture is tough work, requiring the endurance of a marathon more than that of a sprint. But where to start?

In this workshop, we will investigate current departmental and/or organizational culture from a variety of angles in order to achieve a full sense of where it stands today and the opportunities it possesses. We’ll then begin the work of creating a rough draft of how to move forward from here to a more positive future that will complement the needs of the facility.

Participants will learn to:

  1. Articulate influences culture has on an organization, including benefits & risks
  2. Identify how the 3 layers of culture are evidenced within your facility
  3. Assess facility culture using the Competing Values Framework model
  4. Reflect on current cultural development opportunities
  5. Outline steps needed to shape facility culture to the preferred state

Consider taking this workshop if the following are mostly true for you:

  • You know there’s opportunity to improve your departmental or organizational culture, but you’re not sure where to begin
  • The idea of shaping the culture in your area is overwhelming
  • You’re aware that the culture you have could be better
  • You are proud of your culture but you want to take it to the next level
  • Setting the direction of cultural improvement is nearly as hard as improving the culture itself!
  • You’ve not yet had the opportunity to learn much about what makes up a department’s or an organization’s culture and want to be exposed to the concept more fully
  • You feel alone in your efforts to want to improve your culture and need a roadmap to impress upon others the need for change
