Engaging Critical Thinking Through Case Studies - 2026

Through the use of simulation activities, this workshop is designed to help the learner think through various case studies across the age span, while determining priorities of care, the reasoning behind the priorities through high level questioning/synthesizing techniques while reinforcing anatomy and physiology considerations to integrate into clinical practice in attempts to avoid failure to rescue outcomes.

Change Management: Leading Teams & Chartering Alternative Paths 2026

WCMEW 2026 Summit Registration

The 2025 Wisconsin Healthcare Workforce Summit is scheduled for Tuesday, October 13, from 9:00 AM until 3:00 PM. This year we will have a hybrid venue, with limited seating available on-site at the Rural Wisconsin Health Cooperative in Sauk City, with the option of remote access to the meeting via zoom. “Optimizing Wisconsin’s Healthcare Workforce” will feature WCMEW work group updates, together with a number of presentations on meeting current workforce challenges. Last year’s Summit drew attendees from all parts of Wisconsin in virtually every area dedicated to our workforce. And, like previous Summits, it received high marks overall. This year’s event will feature even more opportunities to engage, strategize, and learn.

ER Boot Camp (5-day) - October 2026

Are you a new nurse to the emergency room (ER)? Is ER nursing something you are considering in your future? Have you been working in the ER for a while now but just don’t feel comfortable yet? Are you an ER nurse who hasn’t dealt with a true emergency in a while? If you answered yes, to one or more of these question then this ER Boot Camp is designed just for you. During this week long experience we will explore all aspects of working in a rural healthcare emergency unit. Throughout this interactive boot camp, the participants will be engaged in simulated (hands on) learning opportunities, including case study discussions, role playing effective communication/conflict management techniques, prioritizing complaint specific assessments/interventions/emergencies that may arise in practice. This comprehensive course is designed to provide the ER nurse with a solid foundation from the core principles and standards of care and practice perspective, in hopes of helping get the new nurse ready to practice solo quicker in the unit.
